The Lake Wobegon Trails Organization

The Lake Wobegon Trails Organization is a coalition of community groups banded together to help promote the use of the newly constructed Lake Wobegon Trail.  Among their goals is to enhance the experience for visitors and residents of the trail, plus provide assistance in helping to maintain the beauty of the trail.

The organizations that are members of the  Lake Wobegon Trails Organization are the Chambers of Commerce for Avon, Albany, Freeport, Melrose, and Sauk Centre, plus the Holdingford Commercial Cluband the Albany Jaycees are charter members along with the St. Cloud Visitors Bureau.  The Stearns County Park Depatment has members that attend the meetings to assure a good working relationship and smooth flow of information.

Lake Wobegon Trails, Inc. is a "not for profit" organization.  Ben Koppelman of Albany is currently serving as their President, Tom Skahen of St. Joseph is the Vice President, and Dottie Pallansch of Melrose is the Treasurer.  A special mention should be given to Leo Sand of Albany who was instrumental in the creation of the organization and served as its first President, and to Peter Fuchsteiner for his legal assistance in helping the organization become incorporated and receive a "not for profit" status.

The Lake Wobegon Trails Organization is in the process of setting goals and raising funds to be used to beautify, improve, and market the trail.  One of their fundraising efforts is to make and distribute Lake Wobegon Trails shirts and sweatshirts.   The souvenirs are very fashionable and come in many different styles and sizes.   The shirts and sweatshirts are available in each town at some stores and Chamber of Commerce offices.  Proceeds from the sale of these items will go towards trail enhancement, so if you make a purchase, you will directly contributing to everyone's future enjoyment of the trail.
